The Summer CSA season will begin on June 22 and go till Dec 7, a total of 25 weeks. We are taking subscriptions now. If you are interested in getting a box please visit the registration page. Large box subscriptions are $625 and small box are $375. Payments will be due by the last Monday before the season begins in order to get your box. We will be updating drop off sites as the subscription season progresses. If you have any friends in your neighborhood that you think might want to subscribe, please let them know. We need at least five subscribers to have a drop off site in a given neighbor.
Thanks to all who attended and helped out at our June 6 Spring Farm Dinner! It was a magical event held under a spreading Chestnut tree. Damani Thomas from Oswald Cafe outdid himself, yet again, with a splendid and delicious spread. It was so good to meet some new friends and supporters in person and be able to tour the farm converse and eat great food in such a fun atmosphere. I am certain we will be doing more of these in the future. For pictures of the event click here.
In October of 2008 we installed a 10 kw photovoltaic system on our rooftop to power our walk-in cooler and office space. With the help of Independent Energy Systems, a local company, we are now able to realize an immediate return using renewable energy with a projected payback time of 9 years. We feel this is the right thing to invest in to do our part in preventing further greenhouse gas emissions.
We seek to reduce and reuse containers and packaging as much as possible. We have started using RPC’s (Reusable Plastic Containers) to keep our disposable packaging to a minimum, making our operation less wasteful and more ECO-nomical. We are becoming more aware and involved in plastics issues both on land and at sea and we hope to share ideas and information as well.
